Egypt Omicron travel restrictions and requirements
Covid-19 Tests:
Unvaccinated passengers: Passengers aged 6 and older must hold a negative PCR test result tested no more than 72 hours prior to departure. The test certificate must contain either a QR code or a stamp issued by the laboratory, and it must be in English or Arabic. Digital formats of the test certificate will not be accepted, with the exception of passengers travelling from Cameroon. Confirmation letters stating that the passenger has been tested are not accepted. PCR tests expire as soon as passengers use them to travel outside of Egypt. Antigen tests are not accepted for entry.
Vaccinated passengers: Test is not required for passengers who hold proof that they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and that 2 weeks have elapsed since the second dose of any of the AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sinopharm, Sinovac, or Sputnik vaccines or 2 weeks have elapsed since the first dose of Johnson and Johnson vaccine. The vaccine certificate must contain a QR code. Certificates without a QR code will be accepted if they have been approved by an Egyptian Embassy.
Passengers who hold a Covid-19 recovery certificate or have received only one dose of a two-dose vaccine must hold a negative PCR test result tested no more than 72 hours prior to departure.
Other exempt passengers:
Passengers who hold a CDC vaccination record card with a negative PCR test result taken no more than 72 hours prior to departure. The test certificate must contain either a QR code or a stamp issued by the laboratory in English or in Arabic. Digital format of the test certificate will not be accepted;
Passengers travelling from Australia, Canada, China, France (Paris), Germany (Frankfurt), Italy (Rome), Japan, Korea (South), New Zealand, Thailand, the United Kingdom (London Heathrow), North America, or South America, who may instead hold a negative PCR test obtained within 96 hours prior to departure;
Passengers in transit who do not leave Cairo Airport (CAI); or
Passengers flying directly to Sharm El Sheikh International Airport (SSH), Taba International Airport (TCP), Hurghada Airport (HRG), or Marsa Alam International Airport (RMF). Passengers arriving in the listed airports without a negative PCR test result will be subject to a PCR test on arrival at passenger's own cost ($30 USD), and must quarantine until they receive a negative result.
Test on Arrival: Passengers who have been in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, or any Latin American country in the past 14 days will be subject to an ID now Covid-19 test on arrival.
Passengers who test positive will be subject to a PCR test at the airport at a cost of 1000 EGP. If a positive result is received, the passenger must quarantine in a government designated hospital.
Form: Passengers must complete a Public Health Declaration Form prior to departure. Passengers must hold a hard copy of the completed form. A form in digital format will not be accepted.
Health Check: Passengers with any symptoms of Covid-19 or whose temperature is 38°C or above will be refused boarding.
Covid-19 Test and Quarantine on Arrival: Passengers arriving on indirect flights from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe will be subject to rapid testing on arrival in Egypt. Passengers who test positive will not be permitted to enter.
Passengers who test negative must quarantine at home for 7 days and submit to a PCR test on day 7. They will be monitored for a further 7 days.
